or you can follow the other links to his website www.gonzopatriots.com to see the trailer and buy the film.

I went ahead and copied the text from the tribe page below so you get a better idea of the work.

Please support the spirit of independence in which this film was made AND BUY THIS FILM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

New Hunter S. Thompson Documentary
This is the trailer for the fun-loving but poignant film that is a tribute to Gonzo journalist, Hunter S. Thompson, and a document of how his legacy continues to live on in the hearts and minds of his fans. Blasted!!! follows the many "Gonzo Patriots" across America that volunteered their personally owned artillery to fulfill the good doctor's last wish to have his ashes fired from a cannon. Before Johnny Depp became involved with the ceremony, and paid over 2 million dollars for a professional fireworks company to blast his friend's ashes from a 200 foot tall 'Gonzo fist,' an essay contest was held by the Aspen Daily News (at the request of Hunter's family) to see who would be available to provide the service of firing his ashes. Over 50 private cannon owners applied and though these letters were published in Harper's magazine, these brave men and women, who had come forward to fulfill the dying wish of their hero...were eventually forgotten.

DVD's for this film can be purchased at www.gonzopatriots.com

Blue Kraning, Los Angeles based documentary director and Emmy Award winning writer, has just released the DVD of his film, Blasted, The Gonzo Patriots of Hunter S. Thompson, which recently premiered at the Starz Denver International Film Festival and the Rotterdam International Film Festival.

Three years in the making, this film is a tribute to a great journalist and renowned physician. Kraning says the film, “is intended for any fan of Hunter S. Thompson or just anyone who likes to see large stuffed animals blown to bits by a homemade Bowling Ball Cannon fired by a man in a purple polyester suit, or see transgender Civil War re-enactors blast their aptly named mountain howitzer...’Lucrecia,’ while reciting Hunter’s wisdom. I made this film entirely as a one-man-band, in the tradition of Gonzo individuality and artistic freedom, so I will be distributing the film entirely by myself by selling the film off my website at www.gonzopatriots.com”

"Hunter S. Thompson embodied the American ideals of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Blue Kraning's Blasted!!! is a twisted, anarchic, fun, and funny tribute to Hunter, those ideals, and Americans who don't merely mouth the Declaration of Independence, but live it." - Michael Simmons, The Huffington Post

“These are not the famous actors, politicians or even journalists. These are Hunter's readers who are “his people” in the purest sense, an army of thoughtful citizens who are inspired by Hunter's work and who do a fine job of carrying on his legacy.” –Anita Thompson, wife of the late author, Hunter S. Thompson

Hi all,

We opened today our site www.ubiplanet.com.

Our vision is that to date communication and exchange tools remain too diverse and too complex for “normal people” to give them everyday value (except for the youngers), are mostly feature centric vs. user centric, are not integrated, people have to open several accounts (e.g. Flickr, youTube, Blogger, Messenger, …) and then have to manage several contacts lists…

Fakes identities are spread all over the web resulting in undesired messages (spams, blogs). Therefore it is almost impossible to carry over a LEVEL OF TRUST from the real world to the Internet world…

Most sites offer low or even no privacy. They are mainly not suitable to handle my “private life”.

Our ambition is to provide a web based tool with
- an integrated approach to fit all daily communication & exchange needs (photos, blogs, mail, im, groups, calendar),
- with a single network view, centered on the user,
- with no fake identities but 1:1 distance between people (relationship + geographic),
- total privacy control from the user on each piece of information.

A service that is designed to help me easily handle my private life (communication & exchange with people I already know) as nobody does that way.

I would appreciate to get your feedbacks here, it would help us a lot to improve our service taht is in a beta phase.

Thanks !

PLEASE go here to http://www.saveyourspace.org and fight for your rights to have access to social networking sites. Does anyone think we need a new moderator to get this under control. I guess I'm mad at myself and upset that it seems that people are joining tribe just to get an invite to Orkut, which BTW sucks. Hell, most of these people don't even fill out the profile. They just want an invite.

I was there (Orkut) at the beginning, to see how it behaved. Wasn't too impressed then.
I am sure there have been some mods since then.

Anyway, I wonder how many of those invites showed up on ebay??
devious peeps...You mentioned half of them never joined up. Hmmm...

I have recently been playing with cfml for a SN Site, and taking another look at Drupal's Mods.
Has anyone installed the Drupal Mods for the SN Set up?
Just curious about their thoughts..

Thanks, and have a great weekend.

tribe.net has turned to crap. An alternative (free-association.net) is in the works.
However, the new thing isn't up yet and we can barely stomach coming here.
We need somewhere to go during the interim where we can share ideas, and express ourselves freely.
I have a solution!

I just created a forum at http://untribe.omnithoughts.com

It has topics for the creators and future users of free-association.net, and other categories so that we can simply share and have fun like we used to without fear of censorship.

Keep in mind that this is just a forum for while the new thing is being constructed. Don't expect bells and whistles. At the same time, it'll be as good as you make it.

Since it's just been created, it's pretty empty. Fill it up!

Feel free to let everyone know! Post the link far and wide! Oh, and read the disclaimer on the site.

All of these pissed-off people are leaving, but that just fragments the pool of good folks, scattering them to the winds. I'd rather have one site where kindred spirits congregate, because managing multiple online accounts would be overkill. The sex-positive culture in Tribe is okay, but I come here for discussion, not titillation. It's not like you can't get titillated elsewhere....plenty of opportunity for that.
There's this new site called Zaadz that seems to be trying for the same hip, socially conscious market as Tribe, but their heavy corporate-sensitivity rap sets off my bullshit detector.

What kinds of things would you want if you were in college? Don't you want video, voip and all that new technology - no longer trying to use an site that markets to everyone from 12 year olds to 60 year olds?

Tribe is my first and basically my only SN site. (I'm trying to get a bunch of my fellow grad school buddies to get Tribe accounts before we scatter after graduation.) So I'm curious: what is it that folks prefer about some of the other sites? When I surfed thru them, they all seemed aimed at the teenybopper set.

Although Tribe has a smaller number of member profiles than Friendster, Facebook or MySpace, it also has fewer cheesy features like horoscopes, annoying ads, and titillating photos of members. To me Tribe appeared more about community and less about dating and posing (although it certainly accommodates dating, posing and more!). So I wasn't embarrassed to ask friends to join.

I saw an ad for Zaadz recently, and although it's vaguely international flavor seemed appealing, they also have a too-precious,and conscious-capitalism-will-save-the-world vibe that is utterly off-putting.

Well, simple! We'll be moving to an offshore host soon in a country with some very free-expression-friendly laws (Peru to be precise, and our contacts there are building the funding and legal framework we need to insulate the site and ourselves from laws in the US or other repressive regimes), and we'll be funding the site with a combination of grants from free-expression-minded individuals and voluntary NPR-like donations from our members. We don't need to pay salaries or make any profits, after all, since we're not a corporation and all-volunteer...we just need to "keep the lights on" and that's it for overhead.

We are developing a web application that allows people to inform their friends or other people where they currently are or where they frequently hang out.

The objective of this application is to allow friends to find each other, as well as to provide people who are simply acquaintances better tools for meeting each other. In addition, it will provide tools for people to find new friends via places they have in common.

We would like to conduct some short interviews with interested people to help us determine what would be useful to include in such an application. The interviews will be 25-30 minutes long, and can be conducted via the instant messaging network of your choice.

Contact us by sending email to capstone.informatics@gmail.com

Please be able to answer "yes" to the following screening questions:

* Are you in college?

* Do you use social networking web applications such as facebook, myspace, friendster, etc?

* Are you interested in switching your communications between online and in-person formats?

After a couple of months of private beta testing, we have (temporarily, at least) opened up signups to the general public, with no waiting period necessary. You may now sign up at:

http://www.reezle.com/joinnow/

The reason for the delay in offering an open signup page is because of concerns about our servers handling the load. We've done enough testing that we think that we'll be able to handle the additional traffic without causing a Friendster-like meltdown.

For those of you new to the party, reezle is YASNS (yet another social networking site) launched by the folks who run SWYDM and the journalspace blogging site. Reezle has a particular focus on singles, but anybody is welcome as long as they're interested in expanding their social circle -- and, of course, they're interested in helping us beta test. This means giving us feedback on features and letting us know when things break.

We're trying to make a difference by:

- RUNNING AN AD-FREE SITE. We promise that you will not be urged to slap any monkeys. We know that you probably already have an MP3 player, thankyouverymuch. Personally, the amount of ads on myspace annoys the heck out of me, and we think that there are enough people out there who would also appreciate an ad-free site.

- Robust blogging tools: including simpler integration with the photo gallery, and the ability to blog via mobile devices -- including uploading photos and VIDEOS. If you've been interested in video blogging but you've noticed that nearly all the video blogging services out there charge money, give the reezle beta a try.

- Robust photo gallery management - sites like tribe/friendster/myspace offer basic photo gallery services, but we think there's a need for a social networking/blogging site that adopts some of the professional features, like storage and downloading of original full-sized images, image tags, and the like.

- Simple URLs. This is a minor thing but one I've appreciated a lot. We've built simple URL management into the system from the ground level. For instance, my Reezle profile URL is:

http://www.reezle.com/profiles/Dylan

If you sign up for reezle during the open signup period, drop me a note over there and let me know what you think. We'd love your feedback... good and bad.

If you join, look me up (I'm "Dylan") on reezle. My Reezle URL is:

The reason I ask, is because I need someone's help with a project, and they'd be much more likely to help if they agreed with what I was trying to do with it.

I'm a member of the Freespace coaliton. We are a Toronto based coalition of autonamour project group that have a collectivised, money free economy.

Or at least we're trying to be. For now there are only a few groups, and not much money, nor many resources... but we're growing.

What I mean by project group, is a collective working on building, or doing one specific thing. For example, the most prominent project group in the coalition at the time is the Freespace Soundsystem. We put on underground raves, usually for free, in the abandoned spaces of the city. Others groups are the Scavangers/builders collective (wich consists of some of the same members as the soundsystem) wich builds neat stuff out of junk, like the giant Yurt that we sometimes set up for our raves, and the Community Zine (pretty self explanatory)...

There are other groups, but I think you get the picture.

you can check out more at www.freespace.cc

Now, What we need, is a program that will help all of the different groups stay connected online, but beyond that, implement the non-heiarchical structure that we're trying to implement. It's less important now, but as we grow, especially as we grow to include more and more members that are not immediately in touch in person, we'll need this program to keep the whole organisation running, especially as, since it's not meant to have a head of any real kind, (although there are some randomly selected adminitrators for some things) the only structure the system will have at all, will be that wich is hardwired into a software program.

So, I'm looking for someone to help me either use an existing program (if there is one that can do the job) or perhaps build one for us to use. I really can't do this myself, because I don't have the time, nor do I have the knowhow. Neither does anyone else in the group at the moment. But there must be people out there who can do it, and agree enough with what we're doing to try.

So... here's a list of what it is that I need the program to do... in short form. If anyone's interested in taking this project on, I'll fll you in on more from there.

A) (Membership)

allows groups to sign up for the coalition.
-prompts for - name of group, 3 peoples' names, e-mail adresses, inventory of tools used, lcoation of members

maintains list of all members

B) (Funding council)

allows groups to fill out pre-formatted funding request form. (asking the coalition for funding)

picks funding council (wich gives out money to groups), monthly, randomly from list of all members of all groups in coalition
-allows council to reveiew funding requests
-allows council to allot funds to requests from tresury
-allows council to review previous finances of Coalition

C) (Tribunal)

allows all members to call for tribunal investigation
-prompts for type of investigation (1 expell individual,2 expell group,3 allow group extra individuals,4 assign group as central communal industry,5 other investigation)
-Prompts for investigation location (to pick members close to investigation)
-picks tribunal randomly from list of members, notifies by e-mail
Freespace soundsystem - 20 litres - $18.00
Heating Collective - 10 litres - $9.00

-OR-

June 5th - expenss - Freespace Soundsystem
Gasoline - 20 lites - $18.00

expenses and revenue to be entered dayly as they happen

program maintains database of expenses and revenue based both on products and project groups.

Allows interested parties to see both what project groups are spending what kind of money and on what, and what products are being purchased by why and for how much.

Also allows to see what products are being sold by who and for how much as well as what project groups are making what money, and on what products.

fincanes to be displayed in monthly ledgers, and yearly ledgers. Commuinity members to have acess to both, univited guests to have acess only to yearly budhgets.

E) Resource Sharing

Each project group to select member who is to maintain online an inventory of all products produced, available for sale, or for free internal distribution.

Each project group free to create or join 1 guild. Guild votes for 1 person to maintain list of guild capital resources for all groups in guild (ie, speakers, generator, or ie portable saw mill, hand tools, power tools, etc)

person to be notified by e-mail of any changes to sytatus, guild free to elect new rep whenever votes change.

Both product and capital resouce lists to be accesable to everyone in coalition or outside of it.

(F) Communication

-people responsible for certain tasks are e-mailed prompts to go online and do task.

- monthly e-mail is sent out listing funding council, results of tribunals, and public announcements afterwords all at once, that anyonce can enter over the course of the month.

- individuals can send messages to groups, like project groups, guilds, funding councils, tribunals, etc... Program selns e-mails to everyone autmatically, person only selects group to send to.

-person can create poll (vote on issue), members prompted to vote or add and option. When time expires or everyone votes (prompted as they log on) everyone is e-mailed the results immediately.

(G) Interface

Functioning a lot like... perhaps an old BBS... A person logs on with a password, is given access to whatever functions they are responsible to do / have access too (funding council options, tribunal results, project group production imput, finances, etc)

does buisness, is prompted with new duties/queries for imput when neccicary, and loggsoff.

Prompted by e-mail to attend to duties as they come up, prompted again of duties as logging in.

Messages are sent by e-mail, but prompted to check e-mail when logging on, every time new messages sent.

So... yeah... There might actually be a program that could do this... Wich would be nice... but there may not be...

Can someone please help with this. This computer program is kina the make-or-break of this project here... without it, there is no coalition.

The following from a board I belong to at http://www.namepros.com/index.php?referrerid=12394 (for folks interested in domain names):

Quote:

NameBucks are used to 'purchase' benefits and features on the forum and, on occasions, actual goods and services through the NamePro Store.

They may be earned by site participation, purchased from the bank or other members, and can be used as an easy and fee-free way to buy and sell with other NamePros Members on low to mid value transactions.

NameBucks have real value, guaranteed by the site owners, and the integrity of the currency system is protected and held in high regard.

Information

* NP$ is used as an abbreviation for the NameBucks currency. (For example: Adding a midi song to your profile costs 400 NP$, while a new domain registration costs 1000 NP$)
* The store and purchase price list is located at
namepros.com/store.php
* NameBucks may be bought from and sold to other NamePros members at the NP Exchange (namepros.com/npexchange.php )
* Each post and reply + 2 NP$ in domain related forums
* Each post and reply + 1 NP$ in Break Room forum
* Each post and reply + 0 NP$ in marketplace and contest forums
* New threads can also receive a bonus of 1 to 15 NP$ based on the number of replies and views by other members.
* NamePros offers a bank where you can sell your NP$ or buy additional NP$ at a set rate. This is established to ensure a range of value for NameBucks. Bank prices may change with a minimum 10 days notice. ( namepros.com/npexchange.php )
* Refer a new member +25 NP$ Screening may be done to prevent fake new accounts. Referrals are subject to verification amd referral credit may not be earned by referring people in your IP range. Spamming your referral link by email or PMs on other forums is not allowed!
* NamePros admin and staff can not arbitrarily 'create' NameBucks from nowhere, but do earn NameBucks in the same manner as all members in addition to a weekly paycheck of 200 NP$ for their services.
* These rates are subject to (and expected to) change as needed to stabalize the monetary system.
* Site staff reserves the right to freeze the NP$ accounts of any members abusing the system or other members.

This thread will be updated with the current rates for earning NameBucks and information about the currency system.

See it work (very well!) at www.namepros.com/index.php

We firmly believe that most matching sites are just personals services; their "matching" systems are nonexistent or overly subjective.

We aim to be the best matching service on every front: superior technology, better math, better psychology. And of course, it's free, unlike all the others.

SUMMARY
Human networking has been around since the dawn of civilization, but new technology promises to bring it into the Internet age. New companies are quickly forming around the idea that networks can be created, traversed, searched, and analyzed for the benefit of social and business users. The new breed of companies may help you find the right Saturday night date or a trusted partner for your next business venture.

The Interactive Social Networking Industry comprises companies seeking to navigate, analyze, or display social connections of friends, colleagues, and acquaintances. The more advanced features allow weak links and friend-of-a-friend links to be exploited for social or business networking purposes. A user may use these applications to find contacts, or to understand what relationships exist.

This analysis examines nine firms in the industry, exploring their similarities and differences. Each firm brings a new perspective or feature to the mix. The users, members, and customers decide which are valuable and which are not.

Hi friends

I thought you might like to know that I've started a Tribe for the discussion and organisation of protests in the London area.

We live in an age of corporate power & dominance, government unaccountability. We need to organise ourselves to let those at the top know we will not stand for the commercialistion of Planet Earth.

It is predicted that unless we change the way we ’re living, we will destroy the Earth and ourselves within the next 1,000 years (Terence McKenna). I don't want to be responsible for the destruction of our planet, and i hope you don't either.

so join up, lets make a difference. Go to http://protestforchange.tribe.net/ , create a profile, and then join protest for change. Our activities will reflect the views of our members, probably starting with a protest against the commercialisation of Christmas

Thanks,
